Hellebore Cinnamon Snow: These words have appeared a few times recently as search queries used to find this blog. I have no idea if there is a variety of hellebore called Cinnamon Snow, but I like the sound of the three words together. I think it could be the start of a lovely poem.

the flowers make a poem all their own.

Two blooms welcoming spring
Cinnamon sprinkles on snow petals

I admit I’ve to Google it. Thanks for introducing me to the Hellebore, which is also called the Lenten Rose, which grows around Easter time. So I’m just wondering, maybe you’ve written a post on Lent?Or maybe the post on your planned pilgrimage to walk The Way?
No, not yet. Yes, they are called Lenten Roses. I posted a photo of one of these a few weeks ago. This is the first year that I’m aware that they have bloomed, even though I planted them about 5 or 6 years ago. I was so excited to see that there was more than one of them flowering yesterday.
I’m still planning on walking The Way of St. James, likely to happen in May/June. Been walking a lot recently, but no where near how much I will need to walk daily if I’m to do this & finish in any sort of reasonable time frame. Being lazy today & putting off going outside because it has been pouring rain. I know that I won’t have that luxury when I walk the Camino.
Also, I did see the Martin Sheen/Emilio Estevez movie The Way as you recommended. I didn’t like it as much as I thought I might, but am still glad that I watched it. I know that there are people who have been inspired to walk The Way by the movie, but I’m not so sure that it would have inspired me to do it if I hadn’t already decided. it was a nice road/buddy movie though. 🙂
I wasn’t too impressed by it either. It’s just that you’re planning for such a trip and here’s a movie of the same subject. You’re right, I don’t think it can sway an uninitiated viewer to go on The Way. A road/buddy movie? Never of that. But it’s a father/son project. Sheen’s son is the director.

A friend tells me that this is the correct time for the hellebores to be blooming, but it is early for the daffodils – the first ones in my yard bloomed yesterday – and my vibernum bush is starting to bud, which I’ve never seen until late April. Definitely an early Spring this year in my part of the world.
I had to do a search to find out how it was pronounced. I wondered if the middle e was silent. It is not and I agree that it sounds like the start of a poem. ‘The delicate beauty of the Hellebore Cinnamon Snow straining toward the sun encouraged my my fragile hope…..’

Thanks. There was a bit of vignetting on that one, but I thought it looked okay. I especially liked how the stone wall was blurred and looked like the flower was surrounded by grey cottonballs.
