Fall Conference — for the birds

Today around 2, there was a gathering of birds around my back yard: in the trees, on the driveway, sipping from the pond. Mostly there were robins, sparrows and thrushes, but I also saw a Yellow-shafted flicker and about a dozen Cedar Waxwings. The waxwings were the closest to the house, but flitted away when I got the camera. A few times last fall I saw a similar bird convention. It was around this time of year, and happened on consecutive days, always around 2 pm. I don’t know what it is about this particular spot at that time of day in the fall, but they appear to like it. I won’t be home at this time for the next few days, so I don’t know if this is a repeating event or not.
